THE MERION PARK CIVIC ASSOCIATION
The Merion Park Civic Association (MPCA) is a non-profit organization
representing approximately 380 homeowners and families residing in the Merion
Park section of Lower Merion Township. The association acts as a liaison between
Lower Merion Township, local police and fire departments, other Lower Merion
Township Civic Associations and the homeowners in matters that may affect the
neighborhood.
The association also plans and facilitates various community activities such as picnics, concerts and other events that may be of interest to its members. The association strives to enhance the quality of our neighborhood. Sixty percent of the homeowners contribute yearly dues and are considered active members.
Meetings
Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Academy
House adjacent to Bala Cynwyd Middle School, 506 Bryn Mawr Ave. All neighbors
are invited to attend. We are on hiatus during the months
of July and August. We return in September.

The General Wayne Park is an incredible resource. Because we love the Park, a small group of us (which we hope will grow to include many of you) want to make it even better. With the encouragement and help of the Merion Park Civic Association and the Lower Merion Parks Dept., we will be initiating various activities to improve the appearance of the Park and make the Park more environmentally friendly. A major focus will be on community education. We want to share ideas and information that will make our Park and neighborhood more enjoyable and more environmentally friendly.

The LM Police Will Check
Your House While You Are On Vacation
When you are on vacation or away from home in excess of 24 hours, you can contact
the Lower Merion Police Department at 610-649-1000 to report your home vacant.
You will be asked a series of questions which include:
Your Name.
Your Address.
The dates you will be away.
An Emergency Contact Phone Number.
Whether or not that Emergency Contact person has a key to your home.
Whether or not you have an Alarm System.
If you have lights on timers.
And any other specific instructions you would like the Police to know.
Based on this information, the Lower Merion Police Department will assign a patrol officer to check your home in your absence.
When you return, please contact the Police to inform them that you no longer need this service.
Having a Party?
If you have a party you may have the LM Police place temporary No Parking signs
on one side of your street. This insures that traffic can still pass through
and makes parking easier. Call the LMPD Communication Center at 610 649 1000.

Friends of Merion Park Civic Association
We have recently created an additional yearly membership for people who don't
actually reside within our boundaries; that of "Friend of the Merion Park
Civic Association". In addition to receiving our email newsletter, anyone
who contributes $10.00 to the association can also be listed in our telephone
directory. This non-voting membership is open to anyone who does not reside
within the boundaries of the Merion Park Civic Association.
Directors Needed
The Civic Association has opening for five directors. If you
are interested in participating in your neighborhood -- zoning issues, traffic
safety concerns, planning social events -- please call one of the officers for
more information.
We are always looking for volunteers to help us plan and produce the Spring Picnic and to work with us to bring new and exciting events to the neighborhood.
Lawn Signs
We would like to thank all those residents who participated in our 2002-2003
address lawn sign campaign. We had well over 100 signs ordered and as you look
around the neighborhood you should see the new signs. These new signs have our
Civic Association Logo and the actual street name. The reflective signs add
safety by allowing emergency personnel and visitors to quickly find addresses,
even at night.
Welcoming New Neighbors
If there are new neighbors on your street, please call Diane Actman
610-664-6704 who chairs our welcome committee. New arrivals to our neighborhood
receive a small welcoming gift that might include a clock-pencil holder, cookies
or candies, merchant discounts and a copy of our telephone directory.
Receive our Email Newsletter
We sometimes use email to notify our neighbors of last minute
changes to scheduled activities and to notify residents of local events. To
receive our email newsletter you may email your name, address and email address(s)
to our webmaster at webmaster@merionpark.com
Please include Name, Address, Phone (optional) and Email address.
WE RESPECT YOUR RIGHT TO PRIVACY.
